Great qualities in a potential employee

September 25, 2012

I feel you should hire me because of the qualities and skills that I have obtained within my work experience. I have the ability to communicate well with others, including those whose background may be different than my own; being a good listener is a large element of communication in which I believe I also perform well. When it comes to getting things done I am very determined; no matter the task I make sure it gets done even if that means going above and beyond what was originally requested. I tend to work independently with minimal to no supervision. I prefer to work at a large company in which I can make a major impact; helping your organization make improvements is top priority to me.

Attending Davenport University has prepared me for the future in Human Resources; they have equipped me with the necessary communication, business and personal skills in order to succeed wherever I choose to be placed. The courses that I have taken directly relate to human resources; they have taught me all that I need to know about real world business practices in the HR department. I plan to use this knowledge and education to assist your organization in hiring those candidates which seem to be the best fit for the company and individual job openings. Overall my education has prepared me for a fascinating career in human resources.

I have previously had a conflict with a prior business professor. Throughout the seven week online course, the professor repeatedly fell behind with grading – therefore I was not aware of where I stood in the course. Week after week I found myself emailing my professor to correct some grading that she submitted that seemed unfair and incorrect. With every instance I was granted the proper points and the grade that I deserved. With proper communication and understanding the professor and I were able to discuss the details and work out what seemed to have been missing in the guidelines for the course.

I definitely consider myself to be a team player. Throughout most of my education, I was involved with online courses in which we had to work with other members of the class in order to complete our final assessments. It was more difficult than being in an in-seat class because we were never able to meet in person, yet we all wrote up a team agreement stating we would meet weekly on certain days and times. This helped a lot, especially because we would update each other on our progress and we would make suggestions if needed. I found working in teams makes the workload much less, however there are sometimes worries in case someone doesn’t do their part – I have also dealt with situations like so. When a fellow teammate fails to follow through on an assignment, I am usually the one who steps in and makes up for the part that was not complete; these ensures that we do not receive less of a grade than we deserve simply due to one persons inconsideration.

Introduction

September 18, 2012

My name is Nichole Filipiak and my major is Human Resource Management. In my education goals, I consider myself to be on track with obtaining my Associate degree in Business Administration this semester, and at the same time I continue to work towards my Bachelor's degree - which I plant to obtain as of Fall 2013. Technical communication is important in my career field because everything is based off of how we communicate with potential employees, hiring managers, colleges & universities as well as recruiters. It shows the professionalism behind the company and proves that we put much effort into all that we do.
